The name Copperlin is derived from the Sylvin language, as Copperlin was founded by Eluneth Rogers, who was culturaly Sylvin.
Climate
Copperlin has a yearly average temperature of 10°C (50°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a cool 19°C (66°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a cold 2°C (35°F). Copperlin receives an average of 179 cm/y (70 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of snow during the pleasantly short winter months. Copperlin covers an area of nearly 5 km2 (2 mi2), and an average elevation of 2552 m (8372 ft) above sea level.
Overview
Copperlin was founded durring the late 13th century in fall of the year 1166, by Eluneth Rogers. The establishment of Copperlin was plagued by a lack of willing colonists. After attempts to pay people to resettle failed Eluneth Rogers struck deals with nearby nations and communities to establish Copperlin as a prison colony.
Copperlin was built using the conventions of Sylvin durring the late 13th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Copperlin is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature delicute timber framework hidden behind layer upon layer of finly ground plaster bleached to an almost glossy white sheen, with green clay tiled roofs and decorative brass-leafed trim. Even the smallest, poorest looking structures appear to be expencive thanks to the extreem elegence of the organic shapes and paterns going into their lofty, spire-y, vagly gothic designs. The more well off folks live in identicle homes, save for even shiner trim and a more whimsical appearance to their structures flowing forms.
Copperlin is buildings are located arround a single restrictive packed earth mainstreet which forms a clockwise spiral to give the town a over all circular shape. The town is protected by a series of wooden fences ringing the town's parimiter, which are likly intended to keep varrious beasts out of town rather than protect it from attack by any intelegent agents. The town's bare minimum defences have recently undergone extensive repairs and renovations, such that the repairwork is imeadiently apparent and can be spotted due to the diffring ages of materials. One can't help but wonder what brought the need for those repairs to the town.
Right off the bat Copperlin hits you in the face with its success. Everyone, even the peasants, are dressed in well made clothing. Every tool and implement you can see is finely made, and people will boast to you as obvious strangers of the wonders which can be found in their markets. More interestingly is a total lack of beggars, and plenty of new buildings are going up even as you speak. Somehow this town has come into quite a lot of wealth, and recently from the looks of things. The town is very clearly a joyfull place as well as wealthy. Music can be heard often, as well as laughter. The smell of food and drink permiates the air. You can’t help but smile.
Civic Infrastructure
Copperlin has an animal control department which works to enforce local ordinances relating to the control, impoundment, and disposition of animals.
Copperlin has an Office of Civil Vicary, which is responsible for providing a livelyhood for all officialy recognised religious figures within Copperlin.
Copperlin has a Gravedigger's Guild, which is responsible for collecting the dead and laying them to rest according to all applicable laws and religious customs.
Copperlin has a Highwayman's Guild, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.
Copperlin has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain Copperlin's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.
Copperlin has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands.
Copperlin has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.
Cultural Notes
There’s a relatively new religion in Copperlin which is rapidly gaining power. It might be a sectarian offshoot of a major faith, the unique product of a new prophet, or an outside faith backed by wealthy and powerful foreign supporters. Depending on the demands made on believers, the new faith may be a matter of concern only to the existing clergy, or it might be a major flashpoint for conflict in the community.
Copperlin's bank was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is known for its fluid and florid elaborate style, comprising ornate, asymmetric designs and pastel shades. It is often considered to be a playful, light style, which made exuberant use of curves and emphasized subtle asymmetry in the general shape of its structures. Walls, ceilings and moldings are decorated with numerous interlacing of curves and counter-curves based on the shapes of ‘C’ and ‘S’, along with shell forms and other naturalistic shapes.
In Copperlin there is always just enough rain to be annoying.
The Golem, Ice near Copperlin are known to be a mutant strain of the creature.
Copperlin's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in summer and involves embarking on a group pilgrimage to channel Mysticism energies of tier 3 via mimery.
Economy
